Remnant Fellowship Feast of Harvest 2011During this recent Remnant Fellowship Feast of Harvest, 24 people of all ages were baptized as a public demonstration of their desire to follow in the footsteps of Christ – “Not my will but your will be done, O God.”

From Gwen: I praise God for this day and this life! I praise Him most of all for the opportunity to have a new life! That is fun! The world believes in reincarnation – that you get to come back as something that you would rather to be – but why wait for reincarnation? This is it! Do it now. What’s holding you back? You already know that what you had in the past was not good and that what we have now is so much better! Praise God that we have the opportunity to say goodbye to old habits, to say goodbye to the love of food, to the love of cigarettes or tobacco or drugs, to the love of self (which is probably the hardest to give up because you have to have some faith there), to the love of self-protection, the love of knowledge, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, the pride of life, all of that. Paul says in Romans 6 verse 1,
“What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.” Verse 19, “I put Remnant Fellowship Feast of Harvest 2011this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness. When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.”
With no further delay, let’s bury what we’ve had in the past. It’s a “Nothing But Joy” week, and our joy is made complete in the death of ourselves and in living for God. You have made the wise choice to leave the old behind and to start over with the new. I know you’ve already begun this process and I pray that this is a public demonstration and a chance for you to look back on and remember: No more – don’t you know that when you went under you died to sin? Remnant Fellowship BaptismsSo this is a memory for that. So let’s begin with a prayer… We praise you, O God, that you have given us Remnant Fellowship Baptismsphysical life and now a chance at rebirth into the life of Christ. Immerse us all, God, again and again, totally into Christ – looking at Him, looking at how he went around helping people, encouraging people, giving sight to the blind, opening up their ears, letting their legs walk again to serve you. O Father, we’ve been given our knees back to walk and to serve you more, to see, to hear, to live. God, thank you for this healing, and may we all live this life and be ministers and protectors of this Good News of Jesus Christ. God, I pray for each of these souls that have chosen this wonderful thing to do – to imitate Christ into this baptism. Father, may your Holy Spirit come down on them so strong. May they want more than ever to never pick up or touch that old life, and only live for this new life. May Your Kingdom come, may Your will be done, on this earth – through these people – just as it is in Heaven. In Jesus’ name we pray over those who are going under, Amen.

The Remnant baptisms are one of my favorite things to attended in my life! I love Gwen’s change. I cry at what the members share and I am reminded of my own baptism and when I found out through Gwen what that truly meant – and then learning how to live it out everyday! Thank you for this article!!
